Member Benefits

Advocacy

OCHLA serves as your dedicated voice in local government, representing hotels and lodging establishments throughout Orange County. We actively monitor and influence legislation affecting the hospitality industry, ensuring your business interests are protected against burdensome regulations. Our advocacy team provides timely updates on regulatory changes, helping you stay compliant while minimizing operational disruptions. Members receive exclusive alerts about pending legislation with potential impacts on your business, allowing you to prepare and adapt proactively. Our recent advocacy wins include:

Repeal of Irvine's Work Rules Ordinance: After 14 months of persistent advocacy, the Irvine City Council voted 4-2 to repeal an ordinance that imposed onerous and unworkable work rules on Irvine's hospitality industry.

Defeat of Anaheim's Measure A: In 2023, Anaheim voters overwhelmingly rejected Measure A, a UNITE HERE Local 11-sponsored initiative that would have imposed complex work restrictions and wage increases on every hotel in the city.

Buena Park Hotel Development Victory: When opposition threatened to derail Buena Park's first new hotel project in years, OCHLA led a successful digital advocacy campaign that defeated a referendum signature-gathering effort, allowing the hotel to complete the entitlement process.
