Anaheim Voters Reject Measure A, Affirming Support for Local Hospitality Industry
Anaheim, CA - In a decisive outcome, Anaheim voters have rejected Measure A, a ballot initiative that sought to impose onerous work rules on hotels and event centers in Anaheim. The final certified results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters show an overwhelming 66.28% opposing the measure.
The Anaheim/Orange County Hotel & Lodging Association (AOCHLA), representing Anaheim hotels, welcomed the outcome and its affirmation of the voters’ wisdom in supporting a balanced and economically sound path forward for the city.
“Anaheim voters have made the right decision for their community, choosing a path that protects local jobs, supports economic growth, and preserves the strength of our hospitality sector,” said Danny Fierro, Executive Director of the Anaheim/Orange County Hotel & Lodging Association. “We are proud that residents stood with us to reject a measure that would have hurt workers, businesses, and the broader community. This outcome ensures we can continue welcoming visitors while supporting a vibrant, resilient local economy.”
Measure A proposed not only a wage increase but also limitations on the amount of space housekeeping staff could clean without receiving double pay, among other provisions. Opponents argued that such regulations would have placed undue financial strain on businesses, potentially leading to reduced staffing and increased costs for consumers. The defeat of Measure A is seen by many in the local hospitality sector as a reaffirmation of the community's support for the industry, which plays a pivotal role in Anaheim's economy.
The Anaheim/Orange County Hotel & Lodging Association looks forward to continuing its role as a cornerstone for advocacy in the hospitality industry supporting the local economy, providing jobs and welcoming visitors from around the world.
